Here we are fast approaching the 2nd anniversary of Katrina and the tool that finally destroyed thousands of people’s lives. The main reasons of course were the erosion of the wetlands, and the substandard levees built, all endorsed by our government.
And what can we celebrate on this 2nd anniversary? Nothing. Because nothing has been done in 2 years. It is an utter disgrace. Why are we not demonstrating in our millions that our government and politicians are so contemptuous of the New Orleans community? Why are the politicians blatantly using this disaster to line their pockets by creating a business plan that offers ‘others’ opportunities to make millions of dollars? Has our nation’s political system become so blinded by greed that it doesn’t even care how transparent their motives, intentions and crimes are.
Are ‘we the people’ at fault by becoming so apathetic about the fate of our country in the hands of the government and its cronies? It is fair to say that in the last 6 years we have had to witness such deplorable actions and behavior that we cannot get our heads around the enormity of these issues. How can we in our debt ridden insecure lives even contemplate adding more stress to free our nation of men and women who only seek to gain power and money at any cost?
Don’t we have enough on our plates paying our bills, our mortgages, our health costs, rising gas prices. Where can we find the energy for the really large problems like making our government accountable for its bribe taking from lobbyists, the lies of going to war which resulted in the executive branch funneling millions of dollars to its friends, while ‘others’ sons and daughters are killed and crippled.
What can we do when large corporations such as the insurance industry, like a cancer, eats away at the very fabric of our society. Out pricing health care for all. Declining to pay legitimate claims from people who on many occasions have paid premiums for so many years they have actually bought their homes again. Are the insurance companies not in default? Why doesn’t the government take legal action? Is it possible that the government is sleeping with the insurance companies? Do you think?
What ‘we the people’ fail to realize today is that we are all at risk. Do you think that after all that we have become witness to, we can feel safe and secure? Have we not realized that we are all at risk of devastation that will lead to isolation? Are you not scared? I am. Once I had this feeling that whatever happens to me, I’ll have back up. My country is there for me. Wrong. We are all alone and that’s the reality. We are all one small step from utter despair.
The people of New Orleans represent every one of us. They have been sacrificed to show us the way. They have brought to our attention that we have reached a critical point in our history. The people of New Orleans deserve better from us. We need to shout in every village, town & city, that ‘we the people’ need responsive action, and we need it now.
We don’t care about Iraq, we never wanted it then and we don’t want it now.
US Government, you lied to us and so it’s your problem. If you want to waste billions of dollars then pay for it from your own pockets. If you want to send men and women to serve there, then send your sons and daughters.
We want action in our country and our lives. We want our city; New Orleans to be rebuilt and we want it now. Gimmick free. Don’t abuse your people any longer, and we know you are. Outrageous tricks like stated by Melissa Harris-Lacewell on the Bill Moyer Journal last week,
"Be clear, you are not safe anywhere from corruption. You are not safe anywhere from this kind of profiteering. You are not safe anywhere if we don't look at the very simple sort of policy choices that we could have made.
For example, a huge communal land grab of the lower ninth ward. In other words, set up a CDC. Excuse me. A community development corporation, so that instead of each individual homeowner somehow trying to rebuild their houses, you set up a community based development that allows of the block to be built all together at once, instead of one house at a time, right? And then, you allow this community development corporation, a non-profit, to hold the interest of the homeowners and sell back to the homeowners.
Instead, what we did was we wrote checks to poor and working people most of whom had mortgages on their destroyed homes. So you're standing there and you've got a mortgage and your home is destroyed. You can't rebuild with that check. You pay off your mortgage with it. Now, you're standing there with nothing. These were simple things. We could have made a community development corporation. We could have forgiven, in a mass way. We could have done what we did with the S&L bail outs. And we could have bailed out mortgage holders, simply wiping away their mortgages because of this. So, we had very clear tools. And instead, we decided to make this an opportunity for profit. An opportunity for profit driven real estate speculators to come in and make money from this".
Stop using immigrant workers and outside contractors. We want the people of New Orleans to be the base of all work and decisions. US. Government, show us that YOU are patriotic.
If ‘we the people’ do not stand up and be heard shouting from the roof tops that “enough is enough”, that “you the US Government will now do as WE say”, which is what Democracy is all about, then you will pay. We have what our forefathers gave us, the right to vote. Let’s us use this to celebrate and make changes not only for the good people of New Orleans, but for all of our children, our children’s children, and us.

The BBC's true colours
The BBC once more allows its true colors to shine through. Recently a posting proudly displayed on it’s Radio Five website states that,
Zionism is a racist ideology where Jews are given supremacy over all other races and faiths. This is found in the Talmud. There is a law called Baba Mezia, which allows Jews to lie as long as it’s to non-Jews. Many pro Jewish supporters will cringe at this being exposed because they know it exists, yet they keep quiet about it, hey frip, jla and co The Law of Baba Mezia!! Tsk tsk tsk! Its in the Talmud.’
Although this statement received many complaints, the BBC felt it did not contravene the house rules and therefore was left on its site. As a British subject I have long found the BBC’s reporting to be extremely biased and offensive.
Back in 1982 the British traveled half way around the world to fight for some islands that most citizens of the UK thought were located on the north coast of Scotland. There was no imminent threat to the people of Britain as in fact the Falkland Islands are located east of the Argentinean shore.
The whole situation was a charade to bolster up a fledging Margaret Thatcher who had decided to undermine the socialist programs, which at the time were backbone of Great Britain, and in doing so became extremely unpopular. Not once did the BBC report the facts or question this pointless war, the loss of British soldiers, or the enormous cost to the taxpayers. No justification was ever sought.
Yet when Israel, tired of constant terrorist raids carried out on a daily basis on its soil by infiltration or Katusha missiles, killing countless civilians, including children sleeping in their beds or at school, went in to Lebanon to scouge these murderers from it’s boarders, the BBC couldn’t fill its airwaves quick enough with condemnation. Its reporters were not interested in objective reporting but simply to carry out Jew bashing.
No BBC reporter could see the irony that in many ways Great Britain’s presence in Northern Ireland was a true occupation. So why wasn’t this ever stated. Why did the BBC not articulate this crime? A different matter when it came to Israel, who after being the victim of the 1967 war, instigated collectively by several Arab nations, had pushed back the hostile armies and actually won land in the ensuing battles. Now the BBC was able to stretch its Anti-Semitic imagination and rhetoric to find a place in time for its ‘occupation’ agenda.
Lyse Doucet, a BBC reporter, in her days out in ‘the field’ during the second Palestinian Intifada, would file reports that, had it not been clearly stated in text depicting her as working for the BBC, could have easily been mistaken as a spokes person for the PLO. Her judgmental comments were a disgrace to her profession. Belittling bona fide members of a sovereign state, elected members of the Knesset, while sympathizing with known terrorists, were all part of her daily routine. How could an establishment such as the BBC allow such reporting to be considered let alone aired is a mystery? Settlers in Gaza were always labeled as “Jewish” settling in “Palestine”. Such historical and legal inaccuracy only proves the BBC’s judgmental reporting fails all objectivity.
So why is it a surprise that a piece on a Radio Five website offers us further proof that when it comes to non-partial reporting, the BBC cannot hide its true colors.
During the Alan Johnson saga where, Mr. Johnson as a BBC reporter was kidnapped and held for 114 days, the BBC tirelessly held vigils to free their reporter. And, rightly so. However never a word was spoken in scorn. Good tactics in not wanting to aggravate the perilous situation? Maybe. But then what was the purpose of the hugs and amourous words once Alan Johnson was freed. Surely the suffering created by Johnson’s capturers should have led to every literary expletive known.
Not if this would undermine the BBC’s sympathy for one of the most vicious murderers of Jews, Hamas, since Hitler. In fact BBC journalists openly sympathize Hamas and are proud of it. The senior BBC Arabic Service correspondent, Fayad Abu Shamala, told a Hamas rally on May 6, 2001, “Journalists and media organizations in Gaza wage the campaign of resistance and terror against Israel shoulder to shoulder together with the Palestinian people”.
When Saudi Arabian Sheikh Abdur-Rahman al-Sudais, who is not just any imam, but the preacher of the Grand Al-Haraam mosque, the most important in Mecca, opened London’s biggest mosque, the BBC lavishly described him as a respected leader who works for ‘community cohesion’ and a ‘builder of communities’. The BBC failed to mention that this ‘pillar’ of respectability, in his own words, states that “in the name of Allah the Jews must be annihilated, the scum of human race, the rats of the world, murderers of the prophets, and offspring of apes and pigs”
The BBC program, Question Time, has on many occasions brought out the worst
Anti-Semitism live on TV. No pro Israel panelist has ever been anything but a strategically isolated target. If ever this unfortunate guest should be foolish enough to educate the fellow panelists, or even further the audience, how in fact the only true Middle Eastern democracy is Israel will be greeted with hisses and boos.
Tom Gross wrote in 2004 in a piece entitled, ‘The BBC’s very own Mideast foreign policy’, “Using lavish public funding, courtesy of the British taxpayers, and an unprecedented worldwide news reach, (its radio service alone broadcasts in 43 languages, attracts over 150 million listeners daily), is in blatent breach of its own charter, virtually conducting its own anti-Israeli foreign policy.
So maybe after all, the BBC in fact stands for Blatantly Biased Correspondence.

Hezbollah Rearming
The United Nations report of Hezbollah rearming in Lebanon has been received internationally with silence. When the 2006 Israeli - Lebanon conflict began, the world was on its feet vocally condemning Israel. Little was made then, and now, of a terrorist organization indulging in illegal activities on a foreign soil. What was more important, was world condemnation of the Jewish State.
Today, had a UN report stated a build up of IDF forces on the Lebanese border, a resolution demanding some form of reverse action from the IDF would have been passed with frightening speed. And things are only going to get worse.
Since Israel’s independence in 1948, it has been victim to deplorable terrorism, which no other legal soverien state would be expected to suffer. In fact, none of the permanent members of the United Nations would ever have allowed the escalation of these attacks get to a level in their lands, which they expect Israel to endure. However China, France, Russia, United Kingdom, and somewhat, the United States, have all let Israel be the casualty of the Arab world wrath.
Why is this? Could it be their dependence on Oil? Would they idly sit back and allow their double standards to play a roll in their foreign policy. Of course they would, if it meant that their economies would not be affected. This thesis has been well documented by great scholars.
What is troubling now however is will the international ‘ceiling of tolerance’ regarding terrorist crimes against Israel be raised even higher now that the world’s oil is fast running out. Will the Arab nations, striving to rid the planet of Israel, raise their game in their quest for the Jewish states destruction?
The Association for the Study of Peak Oil and Gas (ASPO) states that oil production has all but peaked. To ‘Peak’ is when the cost of extracting and refining oil becomes more than its value. In other words the supplies are drying up.
This information although public has been scoffed at by most of the world’s leading oil dependent nations. Behind closed doors however panic has set in, and their actions speak louder than words. None more so, than our closest friend, USA. Their foreign and military policy is now driven by the need to protect its interests, oil.
This can only spell disaster for Israel. If the international community, in desperation to keep the dwindling oil supplies flowing, has to indeed allow sponsored terrorism to perpetrate greater crimes against Israel, it will. As it is now, the world is allowing Iran to carry on undeterred in its quest to eliminate Israel with nuclear weapons. Iran openly threatens and promises its desires with little or no action from the United Nations.
So once again Israel will be left to its own devices to survive.
A very small dimmer of light is the increasing public concern over Islamic Fundamentalist actions occurring throughout Europe. Even liberal countries like Holland and Denmark are being exposed to the darker side of Islamic terror. It’s quite possible that the Anti-Semitic veil that has covered the eyes of Christian Europe will soon be lifted as it too battles with a fanaticism that Israel has confronted for years. True there are two ideologies at play here, a group of people determined to rid another from a land, and a group of people determined to force upon another its religious beliefs. However the means to the end are carried out through the same action, and that is terrorism.
